Search Challenge: Evolve from "Result" to "Response"

Great article. It brings up a point that has been bugging me for a long while now.

Most current SEO people are former geeks who were the webmasters for certain websites. Their knowledge is steeped in pagerank reverse engineering and server side redirects but ask them a marketing questions and you get the deer in headlights look.

There are not enough experienced marketing people in the SEO industry yet. With a few notable exceptions, most people who can "optimize your site for search engines" know all about the technology and nothing about marketing plans and people.
